Twist is the most common skill you can find in most of the songs starting from level 8. Some level 7 songs also have little bit of twist in it. Twist is very important because most of the stepcharts require you to perform twist in order to have a smooth playing experience and gain better accuracy.

What's good about it

Accuracy and smooth turning is the main benefits for twist. You just need to get ready for your hip to move and switch between your left leg and right leg when you see chain of notes, rather than stepping on more than one notes with a single leg.

What's bad about it

One of the big reason that people dislike Twisting is because it can be very tiring. Twisting require both of your arm to hold really tight on the bar (if you are playing with bar) which consume your arm strength, and move your hip to the left and right which consume a lot of breath every time you move to either one of the side and switch to another side. This is why you can be totally out of breath after performing some tough twisting and don't feel like twisting anymore. If a particular song require you to twist a lot, it can be the main reason that causes you unable to complete the song properly because you are out of breath after all those twist.

Twist: How to train?

First of all, bear in mind that your hip is the main part that involve in performing any type or pattern of twist. It's not necessary but you can try some workout that helps to promote flexibility at your hip such as sit up. Training on the muscle around your hip can helps you to twist from one side to another much faster and less energy consuming, so that you can consume lesser breath whenever you perform twist.

Next, you need to look for complicated twisting songs that require you to perform all sort of twist and combination of twist and other skills such as drilling and running, which I will try to cover as much as I can on the list of songs below. Continuous training is the key for improvement. So when you found some twist songs that are quite difficult, keep playing and remember to switch between both leg instead of stepping on several notes with a single leg until you truly understand it's pattern.
