Run's Skill Up
Last Updated: 18th October 2014Running skill in PIU take the same form as running on a flat ground, just that you don't run to anywhere but on the game pad in PIU. Among all the skills, run can be something that make the audience feel "Wow! He's/She's fast!" when you chase a bunch of notes that appear closely to each other within a short while.
What's good about it
Running for awhile will slowly consume your breath and energy. It differ according to how far and how fast you run, but it's the same concept when you perform run in PIU. The fun thing about notes that require you to run are usually less complicated and you just need to catch the notes as fast as you can. Of course, depending on the difficulty, you might need to perform a bit of twist or drill when you perform run. Nevertheless, running skill can eventually improve your lung capacity as you go on and thus increase the amount of fresh air you can take in, so that you won't get easily tired later on when you need to deal with difficult songs that consume lots of breath. What's bad about it
Anything that is too over, will be a bad thing. When you run or jog, you only need to achieve a certain distance before you rest to allow your body to recover and avoid over doing it. But in PIU, the songs with running notes are fixed and they are just there. Which means, you can't determine when to stop running even if you feel like you are totally out of breath. So you might end up making yourself more tiring rather than improving if you chosen a running song that doesn't allow you to rest much. It's worst when the running notes are co-exist with drilling and twisting pattern.Unfortunately, I have no statistic or analysis to prove that keep forcing yourself for all these songs that result in you getting out of breath will not improve your overall stamina and breath control, But it's better not to risk lower your performance and pushing too hard because that's not an absolute way to improve. Rather, you might damage your lung and other parts of the body for forcefully push yourself too much.
Run: How to train?
Since it's about the same with the normal run out there, you can improve your lung capacity and breath control with morning or evening jog around your household or in the garden. Although you can't train any twist or drill notes with the normal jog, any workout or exercise that helps to improve your breath control and stamina will be good. On side notes, you should perform exercise apart of PIU too. When you need to train with running skill during PIU session, choose a song that you are familiar with and you know that, by the end of the song after finishing those running notes, you can still breath properly with your nose. It's not a big deal if you feel so exhausted that you need to breath through your mouth but to improve breath control, it's more advisable to train breathing through your nose. So try to avoid songs that causes difficulty to breath with your nose after the song play.
Another thing to bear in mind when you need to deal with bunch of running notes is to stay calm and look carefully on the sequence of each notes rather than stepping as quick as you can when you feel like the notes are too complicated. Try to find a place where you can hold and balance your body, and then randomly step as quick as can, and as wild as you can. You will notice you can actually run really fast. The notes in PIU songs are actually not that fast, just that we lose our mind when we feel like the notes are too close to each other so we just step as fast as we can instead of read the notes carefully before that.
