Drilling skill is referring to repeat stepping on the same few notes for many times. It's just like the hole drilling machine, just that we don't want to drill open any hole on the game pad. We just want to practice the idea of a drilling machine where it takes repeating high speed turning on the sharp edge. So it's basically involve quite a lot of physics. Drilling can be repeat stepping on one same notes or two different notes. Or sometimes people refer it as spam.

What's good about it

Drilling notes are the least complicated compare to many other notes. No matter how fast the song is, you know which note you need to step on when drilling notes appear.

What's bad about it

Drilling notes are the least complicated only if the chain of drilling notes don't stick too close. It's usually not easy to maintain a proper position in order to perform drilling and get good accuracy on drilling notes, especially when drilling notes suddenly appear in the middle of a song when you need to perform other difficult skill. There is basically no other way to train drill besides keep practice on single or double notes that need to keep on repeat stepping it. It's just the matter of how close is the chain of notes and how fast you need to step, as well as how accurate is your drill.

Drill: How to train?

Beside keep practicing on drilling notes, you need to learn how to use the correct drilling pattern on your leg. Grab tight on the bar and lower your body a little, it's easy for your to perform drill with this position rather than standing straight. And then, make sure you try to step by the middle of your feet, instead of your toe or heel. Stepping with toe or heel can work only if you need to deal with around 6 or 8 chain of notes.

When you drill or toe or heel, you will notice your accuracy get more mess up when the chain of drilling notes keep going on. This is because the leg muscle that are involved when you repeat stepping with toe or heel doesn't able to support you to perform a long drilling. It's a little complex for me to explain the entire physic thou.

Drilling notes are not so complicated in terms of the pattern, but it's not that easy to get good accuracy when dealing with huge chain of notes because when the notes are closer after one another, it's get harder to estimate clearly how fast you need to drill in order to get better accuracy. So you also need to stay calm and read how fast each drilling note is before you drill as fast as possible.
